Girls Forest Club
A weekly forest gathering for middle-school girls ages 11–14.
A place for girls to learn real skills, try hard things, create with their hands, build friendships, and discover what they’re capable of.
Why a Girls Forest Club?
The middle-school years are a time of figuring things out — who you are, where you fit, how you relate to other people, and what you're capable of.
In the forest, confidence becomes something girls can practice. It's learning to use a new tool safely. Trying to build a fire when it doesn't work the first time. Taking on a challenge that feels a little outside their comfort zone. Speaking up. Solving a problem with a friend. Making something with their own hands.
It's also a chance to practice the less tangible skills that matter just as much: trusting yourself, working through frustration, asking for help, being a good friend, recognizing when a friendship feels healthy, and having the courage to speak up when something doesn't feel right. Girls will have room to try, fail, get messy, laugh, figure things out, and try again — without needing to already know how.
The goal is simple: to give young girls real experiences where they can take risks, work through challenges, and build trust in themselves.
What we do
Our time together is shaped by the season, the forest, and the girls themselves. Activities are hands-on, practical, creative, and sometimes a little challenging.
Earthskills & Making: fire building, whittling, weaving, shelter building, natural crafts, and learning about the plants and animals around us
Challenge & Adventure: exploring, physical challenges, problem solving, teamwork, and projects that encourage girls to try something new and push beyond what feels familiar
Connection & Reflection: journaling, sit spots, storytelling, tea around the fire, meaningful conversation, and time to slow down and notice
Friendship & Community: cooperation, communication, leadership, encouragement, and creating a supportive space where girls can be themselves
